Hot picks
Your hot picks are three teams you pick who you hope will do well. The further in the competition they go, the more points you score, however the "better" teams will also score you more points than the "worse" teams. Here is the concept explained in more detail.
Scoring table
| Team performance | Points scored |
| Winners | Base points value |
| Runners-up | Half base points value |
| Semi-finalists | A quarter base points value |
| Quarter-finalists | An eighth base points value |
Examples
Let's say you pick Italy (32), Czech Republic (64) and Romania (160) as your three hot picks. This table shows you how many points they would score you, depending on how far they progress.
| Team's progress | Italy | Czech Republic | Romania |
| Group Stage | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| Quarter Finals | 4 | 8 | 20 |
| Semi Finals | 8 | 16 | 40 |
| Runners-up | 16 | 32 | 80 |
| Winners | 32 | 64 | 160 |
Any fractions are ignored. A table showing examples may better show you
how Hot Picks works.
| Team | Base
Value | Winners | Runner-up | SF | QF |
| Brazil | 16 | 16 | 8 | 4 | 2 |
| Holland | 40 | 40 | 20 | 10 | 5 |
| Paraguay | 160 | 160 | 80 | 40 | 20 |
So, if you pick Brazil and they win the World Cup, you score 16 points.
However, if you pick Paraguay and they make the quarter-finals, you score
20 points. If they made it to the semi-finals, you would score 40 points!
So, it isn't necessarily the best option to choose the teams you think
have a chance of winning the World Cup.
